8) Tracking Progress and Setting Targets in PSHE; Formative and Summative Assessment.

How can students become involved in the formative assessment of their development in PSHE? At 3DI, we believe that it is vital that students are fully engaged with their learning, that they understand why they need to develop certain skills and knowledge and how they can manage their own PSE earning. This is true of all aspects of learning, including social and emotional development and their general wellbeing. We can guide you into how you can use formative assessment within PSE and SEAL work, so that young people get a realistic understanding of how they are developing in these areas, and what they steps they need to take to develop further.

Using ICT to track and summarise progress.

You may have an excellent PSHE and SEAL curriculum where students are fully engaged in their learning, and respect is an integral part of your school, but how do you know that each young person is making progress with their attitudes and values? How is this making a difference to their learning? How do you know they are developing positive human values?

On both a school and individual basis tracking is essential to acknowledge success and to plan the next steps.

3DI have a model and a tracking programme that incorporates well being indicators for individual pupils. It provides an opportunity for students to be fully involved in their learning, and to be able to identify the next stages of their progress for physical, emotional, social and spiritual development.
